FAQ ABOUT CAHL LEAGUE

LEAGUE PRICING

CAHL FEES ARE COST PER TEAM- Actual cost per player varies depending on your team roster and captains' payment policies. Reach out to your captain for more information. League fees include a minimum of 10 games plus playoffs (11 games guaranteed). 

$2,450 + $40 PER GAME REFEREE DUES

 *** Your team must be paid in full by the start of the second game.

LEAGUE SEASON timeline

WINTER LEAGUE- January- April

  • Playoffs last week of March- late April

SPRING/SUMMER LEAGUE- May- August

  • Playoffs last week of July- late August

FALL LEAGUE- September- December

  • Playoffs last week November- mid December

This is a breakdown of the division levels, skills, and days of the week.

  • D2 being the highest tier division, D5 being the lowest
  • Sub-divisions A through D (high to low)

*** We encourage players to observe game play in-person prior to deciding division placement.

D2

SUN/MON/TUES

  • Semi-professional/ collegiate or pro-level abilities
  • Players who never stopped playing higher levels

D3

3A- SUN/TUES        3B- SUN/WED

  • 3A- Past high school experience/ college-level/ returning after a few years
  • 3B- Teamwork, speed, organized play, skating ability, and shooting on the net is more accurate/strategic. From here up is where skills revolve around teamwork consistently in gameplay.

D4

4A- SUN/WED       4B/C- SUN/WED       4D- THURS/SUN LIMITED FRI/SAT

  • 4A- Skills vary here. A mixture of D4 and lower D3 players. This is the gap between the two levels.
  • 4B- Faster paced compared to the lower levels of play, but not by much. First division where gameplay becomes more of a strategy, more eye contact, and more open ice communication between teammates.
  • 4C/D- Minimal organization teamwork/skills. More passing is seen here, but accuracy can vary. The beginning skills of basic organization, occasional breakouts. Great level to work on basic ice hockey skills. More physical play begins to show. Has more older hockey players with medium competitive skill level.

D5

FRI/SAT

  • 5A- Possibly have roller hockey experience. Basic skills known. Can pass/work with your team but still may struggle with heads up hockey. No judgement in D5.
  • 5B- Lowest level of play. Has some regular/returning players with established teams.
    FOCUS: Skill building, teamwork, basic plays
    DETAILS: Just for fun/a safe play for those who may still struggle with skating, stopping, or basic puck handling/passing skills.
    ENFORCED: Anyone who stands out from the rest of the players will be required to move up to the next division level!
